Scheinbar haben die drei von Portishead diesmal nicht vor, elf Jahre vergehen zu lassen, bis sie ihren
nächsten Longplayer an den Start bringen. So viel Zeit lag nämlich zwischen Album Nr. 2 und 3.

Vielmehr arbeitet man bereits an dem entsprechenden Follow-Up, wie Produzent Geoff Barrow
jetzt in einem Interview verrät. Auf eine Richtung hierfür habe man sich bereits geeinigt,
jetzt soll es nach einer kurzen Pause bald ins Studio gehen, ehe auch neue Tourdates auf den Plan kommen.

„Jeder in der Band scheint dem sehr positiv gegenüber zu stehen. Wir alle wollen wieder zurück auf die Straße,
schließlich haben wir bisher ja nicht allzu viel live gespielt.“
Außerdem sei man froh darüber, aktuell keine Plattenvertrag zu haben und so sämtliche Entscheidungen
selbst treffen zu können.

An die "Dummy" kommt wohl so schnell trotzdem nichts rann ...

Das ist wohl war.
Dummy ist ein Meisterwerk.

Dennoch hat sich der Sound auf the Third stark entwickelt.
Da sind einige sehr feine Musikstücke drauf.

Man muss sich den Zugang zu dem dritten Album aber erst erarbeiten.
Zumindest ging es mir so.

Vielleicht fiel mir das aber leichter, da ich halt einige Tracks live gehört hab.
Das war echt ein Erlebnis!

The British trip-hop masters are planning their fourth album. After a ten year hiatus, it was a welcome surprise for the band to release their third album, aptly-titled Third, in 2008.

Now it looks like they're back for good, as guitarist Adrian Utley told BBC 6 Radio that they're working on a fourth album. He said, 'We're just finishing up some projects we've each got and then we'll look to start writing, a little bit separately and then together but it is pretty exciting. I think we're just gearing up to it, staring at each other a bit and getting ready to go.'

He did warn fans that it is only early days, and ' don't think any of us want to really hex it by putting too many rules on it, which we often do.' He also confirmed that extra unheard tracks might pop up on their forthcoming tours, but nothing from the studio. 'There will possibly be a couple of extra tracks, certainly one extra track but because we'll be in the middle of doing a new record, I doubt if we'll have any new tracks, it's not how we work.'

Trip-hop icons and general national treasures Portishead have announced a batch of new festival appearances for 2011.

The unit, still in the process of writing their long, long awaited fourth album, will be travelling to Poland, Slovakia, Portugal and France this Summer, as well as hitting already announced dates in Germany, Spain and the UK. The full list of shows so far can be found below; Portishead’s website claims that more will be announced soon.

No, we haven't. I'm going to start in January, I don't know when Beth's gonna start or when Adrian [Utley] is gonna start, but I'm gonna get my head together for January basically to start writing. Historically that could mean fucking 10 years. [Laughs] We're only ever going to release something that we feel comfortable with or else it's not worth releasing basically.
